2011 World Table Tennis Championships, Rotterdam, NED (May 8 -May 15)

Me, personally quite frustrated since Xu Xin and Ma Lin were out of tournament. Xu Xin was obviously outclass by Wang Liqin during Best of 16 Stage where Ma Lin stumbled against perfect Ma Long. It might be the last WTT Championship for Ma Lin...and will be the only big titles elude him forever, as the emerging of younger generation like Xu Xin, Zhang Jike and many more will definitely take Ma and Wang Liqin places. It make me even wonder, do we have any chance to see Ma Lin especially to defend his gold medal at London Olympic...so sad for Ma Lin fans.

I really like the semi's matchups... Wang Hao vs Ma Long would be a crazy game, as both had almost lost in previous rounds and are now totally fired up after beating Mizutani and Ma Lin thoroughly. It's going to be a real deathmatch, these 2 usually go 50%-50%. 

Zhang Jike and Boll is also a very good matchup as their games usually have long exciting rallies, both of them play with a lot of spin, control and placement. Again a 50%-50% match. Both are in great form currently, playing really calmly and strategically. Boll needs to think of special strategies to jam Zhang Jike's BH, such as long fast serves and short serves to his deep FH. And he really should study Zhang Jike's serves today, WLQ lost only because he succumbed to Zhang Jike's serves, especially his reverse. 

I'm rooting for Ma Long and Timo Boll though. Ma Long because he hasn't have a World Championship title after dominating for so long in 2009-2010. Timo really deserves to get into a WTTC final after so many years of being the no.1 non-Chinese, and to make things really interesting for the final.

I think he's referring to the abysmal 1-6 record Timo has vs. Wang Hao over the past 4 years.  With Timo's win over Chen Qi, he now finally has a .500 record vs. a member of the Chinese NT who is playing in this tournament(3-3 overall, 2-2 over the past 4 years).  Zhang Jike is a fairly good matchups for Timo, as Zhang "only" holds a 2-1 record vs. him.  Either Wang Hao or Ma Long would be a bad matchup though, as Wang Hao is 6-1 and Ma Long is 5-2 vs. Timo in the past 4 years.

Ma Long is my favorite player, I've been predicting him to win the whole thing since the start, so I'm gonna stick to it :D

As for Zhang vs. Boll, I think there might be a bit of pressure on Timo, so he might not perform as well.  Zhang Jike, on the other hand, has absolutely NERVES OF STEEL, the best mental makeup of any player in recent memory.  His awareness needs some work, but that's what Liu Guoliang is there for.  If there were coaches on the sideline, he would've crushed WLQ.  I was LMAO when the idiot announcers said Zhang was getting rattled, like how he did in his 4-0 victory against Joo   I mean seriously, the guy wins 3 of 4 sets by 2 points, including 2 that were deuces, and you think he gets rattled?  He comes back from down 0-3 vs. Mizutani in the last World Cup to win 4-3, saving many game points, and you question his mental make up?  It sure blew up on their faces when he came back to win 3 sets in a row to take the match from WLQ!
